California Association for Alcohol/Drug Educators

The CATC is a credential which identifies the academically trained specialist who is able to facilitate behavioral change for persons affected by alcohol and other drug addictions. It will signify to a potential employer or colleague that the person possessing this credential has completed the academic and experiential requirements for a certificate in Alcohol & Drug Studies, in a state accredited, CAADE approved program (or equivalent). The C.A.T.C. Credential will also identify a person who has practical experience in the area of evaluation and assessment, treatment planning, pharmacology of alcohol and other drugs, cultural issues and their relevance, models of intervention, family issues, legal and ethical issues, referrals and record keeping. CAADE is one of the credentialing organizations included in the State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs directory meeting the minimum criteria for Alcohol and Drug Counseling.


Next Scheduled CATC Exam

Note:  The CATC Exam will soon be available year-round by computer based testing in 70+ locations throughout California. Check back for applications, fees and locations. We will continue to offer one paper and pencil exam each year at 3 locations (North, Central and Southern California). The next paper and pencil exam is scheduled for Saturday, March 27, 2010. Long Beach City College (PCH Campus), San Bernardino Valley College, College of San Mateo, Porterville College, Oxnard College, and San Diego City College 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Check back for the applications for both the computer based test and paper/pencil test.   DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR THE MARCH 27 EXAM IS February 22, 2010     CATC Exam Prep Workshops (CAADE neither endorses nor opposes the workshops below; they are NOT sponsored by CAADE and their placement here does not indicate CAADE endorsement--we merely offer this information as a free service for students who may be interested).
