The California Association for Alcohol/Drug Educators (CAADE) was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1984.The first gathering of individuals concerned with alcohol and drug studies in higher education was held in Fresno, California in 1982. Father Dave Duran, a priest who had served as the Chair of the Statewide Alcohol Advisory Committee, was the host. This organization, which was originally an informal gathering of educators, administrators and other interested professionals was organized in 1984, with Dr. Rod Skager of U.C.L.A. as our first President.
CAADE serves some sixty College and University programs in California. The organization also sponsors an annual conference where state-of-the-art alcohol and drug training issues and information is shared with interested personnel working in the field. CAADE is one of the credentialing organizations included in the State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs directory meeting the minimum criteria for Alcohol and Drug Counseling.
